The EMPIRE OF THE SUN GOD
The great Andean cordillera, which stretches 4500 miles from Colombia to the
southern tip of Chile , house some 15 million Indians and a handful of
descendants of the Spanish conquistadors. Besides the Himalayas, the highest
country on earth is Bolivia, which is landlocked in behind Peru and Chile.

The enormous Andean ALTIPLANO is one of those natural wonders that geologists
enjoy in studying it. Great winds scour the 13/000 feet high plain, and flash
hailstorms pound the earth. In the ancient times, lake Titicaca which is the
world’s highest navigable body of water, supported highly advanced
civilizations, Ithacan Indians built their ceremonial center on the southern
shore of this lake, around mid-thirteenth century the Incas, who conquered the
declining Tiahuaonos. Believed that the founder of their empire, Manoo Capac
and his sister-wife, Mama Ocllo, were created by the sun on one of Titicaca’s
36 islands according to one of the legends. s
The present Quechua and Aymara who inhabited the Altiplano and around Titicaca
possess a massive body build, rather short stature, the hairlines are fairly
low on their short forehead. The outstanding characteristic of these Indians is
the large size of the upper torso, doubtless related to the unusual size of the
lungs, the lack of oxygen forces the person for long breathing .To day the
scattered Aymaras pasture their llamas and alpacas and Raise potatoes in the
more fertile regions among the historical ruins with no high degree of culture,

But before the dawn of Incas and parallel to them, owing to the larger size of
irrigated river valley, there were other highly cultured kingdoms on the
northern coast of Peru, the largest and most important of them being that of
the Chimi. Every valley had its urban center, but the capital of the chimi was
CHAN CHAN which we found it quite stupendous site and sight. The ruins covered
sight square miles with great tall boundary walls, street, reservoirs, pyramids
and other edifices that featured a great metropolis. s
INTI-RAIMI, SUN WORSHIPPING CEREMONY
Once every year the Indians gather in Cuzoo to celebrate the Inti-Raimi ,
Quechua and Aymaras from all over the former Inca domain and from all
directions come to Cuzoo , 70/000 people crowded the Ruins of Sacsahuamلn to
watch the solemn ceremony in the central ground, the noise of the scene hailed
the existing glory of their Empire, suddenly the crowd became quiet as the
Sun-God appeared, the Emperor was being carried on the shoulders of his
ministers and noblemen inside a golden carriage ornamented with precious
stones, on front of his carriage two well dressed men carried the Imperial
emblem, they descended from the main gateway of the immense fort and circled
the ground while many pretty girls swept the ground and threw flowers on the
path, many girl also carried the trophies sent to the Sun-God from the distant
corners of his domain. s
At the central ground the Emperor ascended on a stage to be higher than
everyone else. All his subjects and thousands of well-dressed soldiers kneeled
down. The heart of a living llama was cut, (in pre-conquest period they
sacrificed a young girl) the Emperor facing the mighty and lowered his hands,
the impressive ceremony made us shiver, then with a most pleasant and melodious
voice the sang the praising hymns for the Sun-God. s
